AMBOSS Product Design Team Embraces AI Prototyping in Sunny Cagliari
At AMBOSS, we are building an all-in-one platform to learn, practice and teach medicine. And while doing so we’re cultivating a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation. Our recent field trip to the vibrant AMBOSS Cagliari office for a Product Design team offsite perfectly encapsulated this spirit, showcasing our commitment to enhancing our teams’ skills with modern AI prototyping tools and fostering collaboration.
The offsite, held in April 2025, filled the air in Cagliari with anticipation as our Product Design team gathered for a dedicated day focused on the future of design with AI.
The theme was clear: Explore and experiment with AI prototyping to see how it could enhance our product design workflows and help us create more impactful experiences for healthcare professionals worldwide.
A Warm Welcome in Cagliari: Setting the Stage for Innovation
As home to one of our dynamic AMBOSS offices, the city offers a stimulating environment where historical charm meets an emerging tech scene. This backdrop provided the ideal setting for our ambitious agenda, as it is usual at AMBOSS fostering an atmosphere of excitement and collaborative potential from the moment our team arrived.
Vercel unveils v0: The Future of Rapid Prototyping and beyond
The day kicked off with an inspiring one-hour introduction by Alice De Mauro Solution Engineer Architect @ Vercel (the visionary company creators of v0.dev). Alice showcased the transformative capabilities of v0, a powerful AI tool that generates web interfaces directly from text prompts or images, outputting clean, production-ready code using modern web technologies like React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn UI components.
This introduction was incredibly insightful, detailing how v0 integrates seamlessly with existing design tools like Figma and demonstrating how the platform empowers even non-technical users to quickly generate, refine, and share functioning prototypes, significantly accelerating the ideation and prototyping phases. This initial deep dive into v0 sparked immediate excitement and curiosity amongst the team.
Hands-On v0 Prototyping
Each colleague picked a category ranging from Travel & Hospitality, Transportation, Entertainment, Health & Wellness, Finance, Open theme “anything goes!” and was tasked with building a simple application.
The goal: experience the AI-driven vibe-code, turning abstract ideas into tangible, interactive prototypes super fast.
As one designer put it:
“It was so much fun to experience the new possibilities for designers and developers to come up with ideas”
The teams explored a range of concepts, including a “Local guide app” focused on personalized experiences when travelling, a “Daily commitments” app for tracking activities, an “Art Audio Guide” that scans artwork to provide AI-Generated voice description, and a “Flamenco Rhythm” generator to help practice flamenco tempo. The challenge wasn’t just to build, but to strategically prompt the AI to achieve desired outcomes, pushing the boundaries of what they thought was possible within a short timeframe. Feedback from Our Designers
The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the team uncovered the impact of the workshop, with participants rating their overall experience highly. Our designers walked away feeling empowered, inspired, and eager to integrate these new skills into their daily workflows.
Here’s what some of our talented designers had to say about their v0 experience, highlighting both the practical benefits and the excitement of this new approach:
- “It was super insightful to have the v0 team present it and guide us! It was so much fun working with it, and it really felt powerful and useful in the future!”.
- “Very hands-on and inspiring, especially the guest speakers from Vercel!”
- “Nice workshop, well-organized, good insights.”
- “Very engaging and hands-on.”
- “Very interesting tool. It provides a new perspective on how to tackle challenges.”
- “It felt like the future! It’s an amazing product that helps a lot during the ideation phase.”
Many also noted the surprising moments, such as seeing “how intelligently it named different ui elements in the code” or the awe-inspiring fact “That you can actually create a working app in 2 hours, wow!!“
These moments sparked new ideas about potential use cases in their daily roles, including quick functional prototypes from the existing design made in Figma, prototyping, stakeholder communication, could replace some specs design specs and even making a vision tangible quickly.
The collaborative spirit of the offsite and seeing quote: “how advanced some team members got with their project in such a short time” was a major source of inspiration.
While some acknowledged challenges such as “inaccuracy of the results though the prompt it generated by Vercel itself” or “long render times were challenging” the overall sentiment pointed towards the immense potential.
Prizes and symbolic AI Prototyping certificate
Winners in 5 different categories were awarded Futurama-themed stickers and a symbolic AI Prototyping certificate designed by ChatGPT.

Beyond the Workshop: Fostering a Culture of Innovation
Beyond the structured workshops, there were countless shared moments of discovery, laughter, and cross-functional collaboration. Designers exchanged ideas freely, helped each other troubleshoot technical nuances. The shared experience strengthened team bonds and ignited a collective passion for leveraging AI to enhance our impact across all product areas.
By embracing modern AI prototyping tools, we are not only streamlining our design processes and significantly reducing time-to-prototype; we are also empowering our designers to explore new creative frontiers, to think bigger, and ultimately, to deliver an even more impactful and intuitive product for the healthcare professionals.
Deepening Our Understanding: Vibe-design and Vibe-coding
As part of our commitment to continuous learning and sharing insights from this experience, one of the main topics that came up were challenges around prompting to get the best results, we’ve followed up writing a short article that delve deeper into concrete prompting examples and tips, the article “Vibe-design And Vibe-coding Best Practices,” explores how to effectively guide AI tools to get closer to achieve desired outcomes.
