Technical Product Manager

We are AMBOSS, the company behind a powerful learning and clinical decision support tool striving to empower physicians across the globe to provide the best possible care. We’re currently looking for an experienced technical platform product manager to help our Cloud Operations & Infrastructure (CloudOpsInfra for short) and Design Systems (DS) teams tackle the exciting challenges ahead. You’ll bring expertise and guidance to two teams that care about the mission as much as they care about how they get there. In your first 12 months you will:

  • Allocate your focus approximately at a 70/30 ratio between the “CloudOpsInfra” and “DS” teams.
  • Work closely with AMBOSS Platform Foundations group leadership to refine and execute on the AMBOSS Developer Platform vision and strategy.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to gather, assess and refine product requirements, functionality and design.
  • Work closely with other parts of the organization to coordinate platform strategy rollouts, setting deadlines and timelines, assessing risks and impact, communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, while ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Be responsible for communicating and keeping team roadmaps and plans up to date as well as represent the team in broader Product & Engineering fora.
  • Closely work with an Engineering Manager / team to help maintain, refine and introduce new ways of working for the teams ensuring a healthy, up to date backlog as well as team rituals.
  • Specifically related to the CloudOpsInfra team:
    • Work with the Cloud Operations & Infrastructure team to facilitate discovery, technical and operational assessment as well as ensure the platform is developed and operated at high availability, stability and scalability levels.
  • Specifically related to the Design Systems team
    • Work with the DS team to help in project management and collaborate with senior engineers to run agile rituals
    • Receive guidance and direction from Design and Engineering leadership and ensure delivery under said guidance
    • Have visibility on tech challenges and opportunities, preparing self-initiated or incoming requests
    • Accommodate for technical execution of design-driven needs, triaging continuously and strategically between engineering and design
    • Be responsible for maintaining the technical part of the team’s backlog in good shape
  • Continuously seek internal customer feedback, assessing it and ensuring that the team is aware as well as empowered and directed towards delivering measurable impact.



What you will bring:

  • You have an innate curiosity and drive to get things done, interfacing with many parts of an organization

  • Product management experience
  • Change management experience
  • Specifically related to the CloudOpsInfra team:
    • Internal Developer Portal / Developer Platform experience
    • 3+ years of experience with Linux systems in a DevOps or engineering role
    • 3+ years of experience in the AWS ecosystem (at the moment we use EKS, RDS, ElasticSearch, S3, CloudFront, Lambda), being able to provide consultation to teams on resource usage, optimization and alternatives as well as their access management stance
    • Familiarity with AWS Well-architected practices
    • Experience with Kubernetes + Service Mesh architecture as well as orchestration frameworks (Helm)
    • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc)
    • Proficiency with at least one programming language (e.g. Go, PHP, JavaScript)
    • Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, Argo Workflows / Argo CD, Circle CI, etc)
    • Good understanding of observability systems (e.g.Datadog)
    • Experience as SRE is desirable
  • Specifically related to the Design Systems team:
    • Exposure to front-end development stacks like React and Typescript
    • Experience in delivering key, commonly-used software in a regular basis to downstream teams
