Hello, we are AMBOSS and we are looking for a Tax Manager to join our General Ledger and Tax  team!


AMBOSS is a learning and clinical decision support tool striving to empower physicians across the globe to provide the best possible care. Our founders set out in 2011 to create a tool that they would have hoped to have as medical students and doctors. Since then we have grown to currently operate in 180 countries and have gained immense traction in Germany and the US. Currently, we are pursuing this mission with more than 500+ employees in our offices in Berlin, Cologne, New York, and Cagliari.

Are you ready to join our mission? In your role within the General Ledger and Tax team, you will be crucial in maintaining AMBOSS's tax integrity. Your focus will be on complying with international tax regulations and optimizing our tax processes to effectively meet legal requirements.

In the first 12 months you will: 

  • Lead and manage tax registration projects across various international jurisdictions, focusing on VAT/GST/Sales Tax as well as federal and income taxes.
  • Proactively monitor obligations for future international tax registrations.
  • Identify potential tax risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and payments in all jurisdictions where we operate.
  • Conduct reconciliations and audits of all relevant tax accounts, maintaining rigorous financial control.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements with precise tax-related inputs and develop detailed tax reports and analyses.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tax processes by adopting and implementing best practices.
  • Act as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders, management, and external partners including auditors and tax authorities on all tax matters.

You bring: 

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related fields. Qualifications such as ACCA or other Accounting Certifications are highly valued.
  • At least three years of professional experience as a tax manager, in accounting, tax consulting, or a similar role with exposure to tax management being a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Detailed knowledge and practical experience in handling international VAT and Sales Tax filings is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively in a team and maintaining reliability and empathy.
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets, with the ability to manage complex data and formulas.
  • Experience with accounting software (Datev or ERP) and tax engines (Avalara or similar) is a plus
  • Fluent in both German and English, with professional proficiency in written and verbal communication.
