Tax Manager

Berlin General & Administration

Hello! We're AMBOSS, and we're looking for a Tax Manager to join our Accounting & Tax team :)

About AMBOSS

AMBOSS is the copilot for medical professionals, empowering them to provide the best possible care through our learning and clinical decision support tool. Our team brings together care, innovative thinking, and cutting-edge AI medical technology. Our founders launched AMBOSS in 2011 with the goal of creating a tool they wished they had during medical school and clinical practice. Since then, we've grown to over 600 employees and are active in over 180 countries - primarily in Germany and the US. Our offices are located in Berlin, Cologne, New York, and Cagliari.

Why can this position be exciting for you?

Beyond routine tax work: Here, you’ll shape international tax with real ownership.

As a Tax Manager at AMBOSS, you won’t just process tax matters – you’ll actively build structures, drive improvements, and shape how we approach international tax. You’ll have end-to-end ownership, plenty of freedom to implement your ideas, and the chance to leave a visible mark in an environment where not everything is set in stone yet. You’ll work in close collaboration with colleagues across functions in a flat, open team culture. International exposure is guaranteed: with a wide variety of cross-border tax topics, there’s always something new to learn – and boredom won’t be part of the job.

You will:

  • Be responsible for international tax research & analysis: Identify complex issues, conduct in-depth research, and prepare insights that enable strategic decisions.

  • Transfer Pricing & Withholding Tax: Take ownership of these core areas and ensure compliance across jurisdictions.

  • International tax registrations: Proactively monitor new obligations and manage registration projects in various markets.

  • Process development & best practices: Drive continuous improvement of tax processes and implement modern standards.

  • Financial statements & reporting: Provide precise tax inputs for financial statements and develop detailed reports and analyses.

  • Tax returns: Coordinate and oversee the preparation of corporate income tax and VAT returns.

  • Stakeholder management: Act as the main point of contact for external partners such as tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

You bring:

  • At least 2 years of experience in tax, accounting, or finance (Big4 background or similar exposure to complex tax matters is a strong plus)

  • A research-driven mindset and genuine curiosity for diving deep into complex regulations and turning them into actionable solutions

  • Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency with spreadsheets

  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters in simple, business-friendly terms

  • Organized and reliable working style, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Professional fluency in both German and English, written and spoken

  • Experience with ERP systems or tax engines (e.g. Avalara) is a plus

You enjoy:

  • Analytical work and diving deep into complex tax questions, while at the same time translating your findings into practical solutions for the business.

  • You like taking ownership of your topics, working independently and in a structured way, but also value collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team.

  • This role suits someone who is curious, proactive, and detail-oriented, who thrives on solving problems and driving improvements rather than just maintaining the status quo.
