AMBOSS Orientation Week: An AMBOSSian’s first flight
It’s your first day at AMBOSS. From your interviews, you already have a good idea of the company and what it’s like to work here, but what really matters to AMBOSSians? What are our hopes and dreams for the product and company? And, more pertinently today, where do you fit in?
Upon arrival at our Berlin headquarters, our lovely Office Management team greets you at reception and gives you your Welcome AMBox*. Inside you find all the trimmings you need to set yourself up on your first day, plus some extra AMBOSS treasures.
Box in hand, you go up to the kitchen and common area to fill your plate and grab a delicious coffee before settling in for your first orientation session. You’re ready to journey through the ins and outs of AMBOSS with about ten other new joiners: exploring where AMBOSS started, where we are now, and what the future holds.
*Wherever you’re based, you’ll be invited to our Berlin office for your Orientation Week. But, don’t worry if you can’t make it to Berlin; orientation is designed to be hybrid, and we’ll welcome you just as warmly if you join remotely!
What can you expect in your first week?
The experience is divided into four main themes: AMBOSS as a company, our users, our product, and market deep-dives with market leads. But if you think it’s about sitting through presentation after presentation, think again.
Expect a multifaceted, immersive experience with product discovery activities, videos, workshops, group work, and, the cherry on top of the cake, a networking event for you to connect with your new colleagues.
🤓 Day one: Introduction to the AMBOSS history & mission, IT & communications setup
We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, so it’s inspiring to hear an AMBOSS founder explain how AMBOSS began and evolved into the impactful, successful company it is today.
Did you know that we’ve grown from a handful of people in 2012 to over 400 today. You’ll also get hooked up with all the tools we use to stay connected today.
❤️ Day two: Who are our users?
Today’s another good day: you’ll spend time exploring the AMBOSS product from the perspective of a medical student or physician. Putting yourself in a user’s shoes helps you see their pain points and challenges and connect with the people at the heart of our work.
You’ll get a feel for the impact you’ll have at AMBOSS when you see the true value AMBOSS offers to doctors and patients worldwide.
🦴 Day three: Product discovery & the AMBOSS skeleton
Who’s who, and how can we help each other grow? You’ll dive into our company structure and understand who to turn to with questions. You’ll also go through some of the ways we encourage growth.
We’re proud of our supportive and transparent feedback culture and want to ensure everyone joining us is empowered to deliver good, honest feedback to their colleagues, even when it’s not always positive.
🏆 Day four: AMBOSS values & goals
Our values are the cornerstones of our work at AMBOSS. Yes, we’re generous team players, value substance over style, and are hungry for impact. But, what does this mean, and what are the playoffs?
We’ll explain why these values are important and how we can authentically implement them in our work. You’ll also look at our company goals and how they connect with our values.
🌎 Day five: Our DE & US markets
Today, we’ll talk about how our work in the German market shapes our approach to the rest of the world. We’ve learned so many important lessons, and it’s fascinating to see how they transfer to other markets. We’ll also talk about what we’ve achieved in all our active markets and our future goals.
🎉 And finally, what’s happening at AMBOSS?
You’ll meet many new colleagues and get up to speed on the month’s activities in your first company-wide meetup. These take place on the first Thursday of every month and include dinner in the Berlin office afterwards that you won’t want to miss.
There are also many clubs and groups throughout the company. Interested in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion? Join our DEI guild. Love playing football or volleyball? Join our AMBOSS teams. And keep an eye on your Slack messages because there’s always someone getting something started.
Resources to guide you on your way
Orientation at AMBOSS is fully supported. You won’t be left to figure anything out on your own.
An in-depth Onboarding Portal will guide you through every step of your journey and your L&D Specialist is always on hand to answer questions or offer direction. You can also begin connecting with your new colleagues with the help of a dedicated Slack channel for your orientation “class.”
Orientation doesn’t end with your first week: it’s the tip of the iceberg. So, you’ll find more support on our company wiki pages for the weeks and months to come. You’ll learn about your professional development at AMBOSS, the feedback support we offer, our product roadmaps, and so much more.
